Maker Next Door is pleased to introduce Sarah Josis, a trendy and unique designer.
INTERVIEW MAKER NEXT DOOR
MND : Sarah, could you introduce yourself in a few words ?
SJ : I’m Sarah Josis, a Belgian designer. I studied at the Atelier Lannaux in Brussels which is a fashion-design and modeling school. I also took communication and journalism courses at the ULB. I also had the opportunity to do various post-master internships such as for Burberry in London, for ESMODE in Paris, for JOSEPH where I was then hired and for Cerruti in Paris.
MND : You opened a co-working space, what gave you this idea ?
SJ : Indeed, I opened Studio 53 which is a great space for sharing information or experiences. Studio 53 also provides a good environment for creation. My partner and I have decided to set up this studio thanks to a passion we both share: art. This is also at that moment that I consider to launch my first collection.
MND : Where do you find your inspiration for your creations ?
SJ : I have always liked the idea to link essential things (such as dressing) to trend and especially to quality. One thing that I really love to do is to travel, and it is therefore during my several trips that I got inspired by some colors and fabrics. It is definitively not rare that I use some for my creations.
MND : What materials do you prefer to use ?
SJ : I Think cotton, silk, wool, viscose and even cashmere are great. I consider very important the fact to have quality products and to use natural and Belgian materials.
